No Pics, Just General Thoughts

About the way people drive here in Mass. , when you are at a stop light and there is no turn signal to go left, it is generally acceptable to beat the on coming car and turn in front of them. It is almost like there is a hesitation from the person who has the right of way.
At intersections, the left lane is straight through or left turn and the right lane is straight through. Once you get through the intersection, the right lane merges into the left lane at about a car length or two. So you have people who are cutting you off trying to get in front of you.
If you are not an aggressive driver when you come here, you will learn very fast how to drive aggressively.
Of all the Wal-Mart's in this part of New England I have not found one that is a Super Wal-Mart.
Gina and I think we have figured out why. We think that the local small markets in the towns around here have put a stop to any "Super" Wal-Marts because it would hurt their business.

The First Congregational Church Bennington, Vt.

The First Congregational Church is located
on the west side of Old Bennington on Route 9.

The church was built in 1805. This church
building is the second meeting house of
Vermont's oldest Protestant religious
organization that started in 1762.


In 1937 the church was remodeled to include
a new altar. Also, in 1937 the church building
was renamed as Vermont's Colonial Shrine.

on the ground underneath it.

Walloomsac River Bridge

This one lane bridge is near Bennington, Vt.
This is just one of a few covered bridges in
this area. We didn't have time that day to find them all.
We will be going back later when the leaves turn.

Hoosick? Not me, you sick? LOL Hoosick, NY

Some of the things you see while driving down the road are
pretty interesting. Gina and I were on the border of NY and VT
looking for a bird sanctuary. While driving through a small community,
Hoosick, NY, we saw this huge bed in the yard of a furniture store.
We initially passed by it without stopping to check it out.
On our way back through I pulled over on the side of the road and
snapped these pictures.
This is a pretty good idea for advertisement for a furniture store.

Ausable Chasm

Ausable Chasm is a sandstone gorge located in Keeseville, New York. The Ausable River runs through it, which then empties into Lake Champlain. The gorge is about two miles long, and is a significant tourist attraction in the Adirondacks region of Upstate New York. It is called by some the "Little Grand Canyon of the East" and is fed by the Rainbow Falls at its southern extreme.

On the nest

This Osprey was squawking as we approached it's nest. It is probably a young bird, since it was there by itself. The bird was at the same place the foliage pictures were taken, Ausable Marsh Wildlife Management Area which is near Plattsburgh, NY at the upper end of Lake Champlain.
